A Little Bit About Us

Based on the English Riviera, our micro distillery in the heart of Cockington village, Torquay produces a growing range of award winning gins.

Our Story

As a team that have a deep-rooted and long-standed love and appreciation for Torbay, the South Devon coastline and the local community, we set out to create a gin brand that reflected just that.

Following the successful launch of Torbay Gin, our distinctive blue signature gin in 2020, we embarked on a journey to create a brand that would not only stand out but also resonate with our coastal locale. Utilising locally sourced seaweed and garden-grown thyme, Torbay Gin swiftly garnered recognition, across the bay and beyond.

Aurantiaco gin at Elberry Cove

While our intention was initially to introduce a second gin promptly, the huge initial demand for our first release gave us an enjoyable challenge. In September 2022, we proudly unveiled Aurantiaco, a result of meticulous testing and dedication.

Both of these earned the prestigious gold distinction at the Taste of the West Awards in 2022. Our blue gin also won IWSC Gold in the gin and tonic category in 2023, the only in the UK to do so!

A Royal Visit

In 2022, we had the pleasure of welcoming King Charles and Queen Camilla to Cockington, where our shop is based. Director James was lucky enough to chat to him about our range of gins, which he loved the sound of!

Inspired by Torbay

As a team who loves Torbay, we set out to reflect just that. Our blue gin aims to mimic our beautiful surroundings on The English Riviera - the beautiful blue waters and skies that go on for as far as the eye can see. The colour change in our gin, so its beautiful pink colour, is inspired by the coastal sunsets that inspire our love for the area.

Our gins use locally inspired ingredients such as South Devon Sea Spaghetti and Sea Buckthorn to create a real coastal-inspired flavour.

Torbay Gin and the community

We're not just called Torbay Gin for a reason, we love Torbay and do what we can to help. Alongside Matobo which is a permanent fixture in our collection, we have created limited edition gins for The English Riviera Airshow and Torbay Pride. Two events that are important to Torbay and that we're proud to be part of!
